Facilitator Training
Equipping leaders to guide others toward healing, hope, and lasting recovery through Christ
Benefits of Training & Certification
One of the greatest assets in a successful support group is knowledgeable, effective leadership. The workshops offered through Recovery-Through Christ provide basic, intermediate, and advanced levels of training to meet the needs of our ministry leaders and facilitators. Our certification levels protect the integrity of the curriculum, ensure each leader has the understanding needed to fulfill their role, and guarantee that the latest facilitation methods are being used in every ministry.
Program Leadership Certifications
Each certification level builds upon the previous one
Certificate of Completion
Awarded to those who complete our recovery workshop. This certification allows individuals to co-facilitate a small group during a probationary period of one year.
Co-Facilitator
Full co-facilitator status with no restrictions. Requires demonstrated working knowledge of boundaries and suicide prevention. Continuing Education facilitator training must be completed every two years.
Facilitator
Requires a minimum of two years of proven recovery from life-controlling issues, the ability to share a personal testimony, and at least one year of co-facilitator experience — or equivalent experience in clinical or spiritual support groups. Facilitator training must be completed every two years.
Ministry or Program Leader
Requires a minimum of three years of proven recovery with at least three character references, demonstrated leadership skills with three references from congregation leadership, and a minimum of two years of facilitator experience. Annual program leadership workshop attendance is required to maintain certification. Completion of the RTC 12-Step program is strongly recommended.
"Knowledgeable leadership is the greatest asset in a successful support group."
Suicide Prevention Certification
Tammy Stanfield, C.O.O. of Recovery-Through Christ, is a certified Suicide Prevention instructor. Suicide prevention training is incorporated into every facilitator training we offer — equipping every leader with the awareness, language, and confidence to respond when someone in their group is in crisis.
This training can also be scheduled as a standalone session for churches, congregations, or organizations who want to better prepare their staff, volunteers, and ministry leaders to recognize the warning signs of suicide and respond with compassion and care.
Why Suicide Prevention Training Matters
- Recovery ministry participants are often in their most vulnerable seasons of life.
- Trained facilitators can recognize warning signs early and respond with confidence.
- Knowing what to say and offering hope can save a life.
- Every congregation deserves leaders who are prepared for a crisis moment.
